In this struggling economy, keeping a small business alive and profitable has become more difficult. Many consumers are limiting their spending, and are observing tight budgets. And with these budget cuts and spending restrictions, businesses find it hard to stay afloat because of the decrease in customers. If a large corporation fails, bankruptcy could be a good option to explore.

Many small business owners invest a substantial amount of their own money, so when the business fails, the owner often ends up with a lot of debt that is nearly impossible to repay. Bankruptcy is a wise decision for the business owner, because it will prevent him from hemorrhaging more money from his failed investments. A website like Total Bankruptcy could connect you with a bankruptcy attorney to guide you through the process and lead you to the path of financial recovery.

How to File for Bankruptcy

For some, filing for bankruptcy is the only way to stay afloat amidst mounting debt with no capital coming in to offset the bills. There are a few required steps in order to begin the bankruptcy process:

First, individuals must file for personal bankruptcy, which could give them a “fresh start” and discharges any unsecured business and personal loans. This means that future income will not be subject to repaying these loans, whether it is from a new business or simply working on a new job to get by.

The second step is to surrender assets that are considered non-exempt, which will be used to pay the debts. Most states consider an occupied residence to be exempt, which reassures individuals that they will still have a place to live.

Protecting the Family

Filing bankruptcy can be a good way to protect the daily living needs of a small business owner and his or her family. Some might continue to put needed cash into the business to cover expenses, anticipating that the economy will soon turn around and the business will become profitable once more. However, at the expense of shelter and food for one’s family, this is simply not worth it. Choosing to file bankruptcy can ensure that the family will still have a home and income to cover the living expenses.

Obtaining Additional Guidance

Small business owners who decided to file for bankruptcy will often benefit from seeking guidance from a bankruptcy attorney. These professionals can provide more current information on laws and processes, which help the debtor receive a better outcome. Choosing this option can be very difficult, especially for those whose business has been their pride and joy, but it is becoming more common as financial struggles continue.

A day at the slots machine always meant saving up the quarters, putting the overtime money aside and heading off to Atlantic City or Vegas. Players spend the day dreaming of the big win and having a great time trying to do it. Slots gambling can still be done that way. However there is an option that is taking the Internet by storm.

Online gambling is becoming more popular. There are sites where free slots can be played, and there is no real gambling involved. Then there are sites where you can actually gamble, open an account, and play slots right from your computer. Other than the big chandeliers and the waitresses, the gambling experience with an online casino can be the same with brick-and-mortar casinos. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Hence, which is better?

Take a Drive or Never Leave the Driveway.

While casinos are popping up in other places around the country, there is often at least a bit of a drive to the casinos in order to play slots. If you take a friend or a few friends, a trip to the casinos is a really nice social event. If Atlantic City is your haunt, you can walk the boardwalk or travel from casino to casino, trying your luck all over the city.

Online slots, on the other hand, would be the way to go if you do not want to drive to the casinos. It is also a great option for those who are homebound due to illness or disability but still want to have a fun time playing no deposit slots online.

The only difference between online slots and traditional slots is the one being virtual, and the other being played in the “real world.” Aside from allowing you to be able to play from the privacy and comforts of your home, online slots also provide more variety as far as slots games are concerned as compared to its traditional counterpart.

Getting in on the Bonuses

If you are a seasoned slots player, you probably carry a frequent player’s card, which awards you bonuses from time to time. You put your card in your favorite slots machine and get some free play or sometimes a bag or key chain from the casino.

Online gaming offers bonuses as well. These bonuses usually are awarded in the form of free money play, casino credit, or free play time. Again, both offer bonuses, so you get to choose which one you want to take advantage of.

Keeping an Eye on Your Money

Of course there are risks to both settings. Any time you put your credit card numbers out there, you have to be very careful. It might be really easy to just sit down and play slots for a few minutes which will turn into hours without you realizing it.

Online and traditional slots are forms of gambling settings where a player can either win the jackpot or lose all his winnings. It is a progressive recreation, but you have to set yourself with a limit to ensure that you do not have a huge insufficiency in your money and time.

Drilling for natural gas at the Marcellus Shale Formation(Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Finding alternate energy sources is the key to being able to use various resources for energy. Releasing our dependence on foreign oil sources as the major source of energy will boost the economy here in the United States, and help pave the way towards no longer being energy dependent on the Middle East.

Natural gas is the country’s chosen alternative. There are many benefits to taking advantage of this type of energy.

It is abundant here in the United States

With natural gas being available right here in the United States, natural gas almost seems like the most logical choice for energy needs. Marcellus Shale is a mineral rock that serves as a great source of natural gas, and fortunately, it can be found in in the country. There are also storage facilities in many places around the US. There is no doubt that energy demands are only going to grow. Being able to get the source of energy, as well as have the facilities to store it, definitely makes a strong argument for making natural gas an energy source.

Natural gas is the cleanest of all fossil fuels

Natural gas is composed mostly of methane. Its combustion products are made out of carbon dioxide and water vapor. Coal and oil have much higher carbon, nitrogen and sulfur contents, leading to more pollution when used as fuel. On the other hand, natural gas, when used as fuel, emits much less pollution than coal or oil.

Decreasing industrial emissions

The use of natural gas to power industrial boilers and equipment can greatly reduce the pollution caused by other sources of fuel. With the sheer volume of pollution an industrial equipment can release into the air, the use of natural gas as an energy source can significantly improve the level of pollution in the industry.

Natural gas vehicles

Natural gas vehicles are in development, and with millions of cars, vans, SUVs and trucks on the road, this can definitely decrease pollution, as well as keep costs of fuel to a minimum.

The discussion to use more and more natural gas is an important one. There are obviously some very good reasons for using this source of energy instead.

The demand for more energy is not going to lessen in the near future. It is imperative to find ways to get more efficient fuel. While natural gas may not be the complete answer to our energy problems, it certainly is a good starting point.

Yo-Yo Ma

Yo-Yo Ma is one of the world’s greatest cellists and began playing the instrument when he was only four. He and his mother lived briefly in Paris before settling in New York and becoming US citizens. Ma played his first concert at the famous Carnegie Hall venue when he was nine, and has now recorded over 50 albums and won dozens of awards. He also takes an interest in teaching young children music, particularly the cello, earning him a reputation as one of the most benevolent and famous Asian Americans in the world.

Michelle Kwan

A person can’t have a good conversation about ice skating without mentioning Michelle Kwan. Born in California, Kwan began skating when she was five and won her first event when she was seven. She has achieved a record 37 perfect scores during her career, more than any other female skater in history. Although proud to be an American, Kwan highlights her Asian roots by wearing a Chinese good luck charm whenever she skates.

Jerry Yang

Jerry Yang made his name by mastering the Internet, despite the handicap of coming to America when he was ten and knowing only one English word – ‘shoe’. At school, Yang was consistently top of his class and won a place at the renowned Stanford University. In later years, he met another technical wizard, David Filo, and together the pair created Yahoo!, which went on to become one of the largest search engines on the Internet. To encourage other young people to take up web mastery, Yang and Yahoo! also launched the Yahoo!ligans program, teaching the art of the Internet to youngsters.

Connie Chung

Connie Chung is a household name across America due to her background as a news reporter. She attended the University of Maryland before going on to become a reporter for CBS. However, Chung first really began to make her mark in 1993 when she was the first Asian news anchor for one of the major networks. She is married to talk show host Maury Povich, with whom she has one son, and lives in New York City.

When it comes to the business process, non-profit organizations have many similar needs to for-profit organizations, and some very unique requirements. Just like any other company, a non-profit organization is always looking for ways to lower costs and save money. But non-profit organizations also like to keep detailed lists of donors that can be called upon in times of need. Internet faxing is a great way for non-profits to meet their business needs, while maintaining their high level of service.

Nonprofit_Expo_05 (Photo credit: shawncalhoun)

Costs

Metrofax online fax services offer non-profit organizations the opportunity to continue to send and receive faxes, without adding more costs to the business process. Some non-profit companies have locations in areas where the Internet is not readily available. That is why faxing is so important to some organizations. With Internet faxing, the administrators in the main office can send and receive faxes, with satellite offices all over the world without ever having to pay for a long distance call.

List Maintenance

Non-profit organizations thrive on donations from the public, and grants from government and corporate entities. Many of these organizations prefer to send and receive faxes, rather than stop and take a phone call from a non-profit organization. Email is unreliable because some mass emails get caught in email filters as spam.

To utilize their lists and stay in touch with their donors, non-profit organizations use fax. The use of Internet fax makes it much easier to maintain the different lists of donors, and send out solicitation faxes that will have value to the non-profit and its supporters.

Donation Requests

When a non-profit is getting ready to send donation requests to donor lists, it likes to schedule these faxes so that all of the donors get them during a time when non-profit staff members are on hand, to answer calls and take donations. An Internet fax service will allow a non-profit organization to release the fax blast simultaneously to all potential donors. And spend less time waiting for faxes to clear, while spending more time taking donations.

Running a non-profit organization can be a challenge even for the most organized administrator. A tool such as Internet faxing helps reach donors, and stay in touch with satellite offices without adding any cost to the way the organization does business. The non-profit group can keep track of the donors that respond to fax requests much easier, when there is an Internet fax program in place. This keeps the organization efficient, and helps it to stay in touch with its main supporters.

Artistic Expressions

New business owners might have a struggle in deciding how to best market the business and help it to stand out from others that might be similar. Choosing something that will help to give it flair and stick out in the minds of potential customers is a smart way to go, since this will often help to drum up new clientele. Aesthetically appealing designs and other forms of art will often go a long way in visually impressing new customers.

How to Stand Out

Businesses have to be unique in order to survive and thrive in today’s market. UFX Markets’ Money Origami on Econmatters.com was an example of how to get children interested in saving money and provided other financial tips. This example encouraged children to save their hard-earned cash by creating origami animals out of money instead of spending them. The company even provided tutorial videos and created a song to the tune of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” which offered a unique way to save on each day leading up to Christmas.

UFX Markets for Trading

UFX Markets is a company which provides online tools for foreign exchange market trading, as well as brokers and assistance every step of the way. This site also offers demo accounts, which allow new traders to participate for practice without having to use any of their own money. This is a great way to learn more about the process without losing a lot of money. There are articles about foreign currencies, as well as information about trends and predictions in the market. Up to the minute news feeds, exchange rates, and instant messaging with brokers are just a few of the many benefits of being a member of this site when participating in foreign exchange trading.

Tips and Tricks

When getting started in this market, new investors may want to read up on the terminology used in foreign exchange. Some of the words and phrases will probably be unfamiliar to even expert investors, because they are specific to this market alone. Every investment opportunity has risks and potential for gain, so embarking on this new adventure will probably include some ups and downs, as the market and exchange rates shift. Those who participate in foreign currency exchange certainly have options to earn a great deal of return on their investments, but this will take some time and practice. Utilizing services such as demo accounts to practice trading as well as getting acquainted with the process will result in a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Have you always wanted to understand the tradition, history, and evolution of gambling in the United States and Europe? Whether you are a historian, a researcher, or just someone who wants to learn more about various betting methods, you’ll need to build a library that features some of the best books written about the growth and origin of gambling.

Here are some popular titles that you might find interesting.

Gambling and Speculation

Written by Gabrielle and Reuven Brenner, “Gambling and Speculation” is a 286-page book that was published in 1990. It is a great addition to your gambling library because it features a historical and sociological analysis of gambling throughout the years. It also has separate sections that explain why casinos were condemned in the past and discuss the impact of certain prohibitions on the gambling industry.

Knights of the Green Cloth

Robert DeArment wrote “Knights of the Green Cloth” in a very detailed and colorful way. In fact, it is considered as the most entertaining book written about players of poker, roulette, blackjack, and faro who risked everything, cheated, or made a living from gambling. All the legends, characters, and hustlers are also chronicled here, including Bat Masterson, Doc Holliday, and Poker Alice.

Gambling Wizards

If you want to learn from the pros, you should certainly include “Gambling Wizards: Conversations with the World’s Greatest Gamblers” to your library. Written by Richard Munchkin in 2002, this book features a series of interviews with eight of the most successful gamblers in the world. It opens your eyes to the way professional gamblers think and gives you a glimpse of legendary gamblers who win millions of dollars a year.

Hunting the “ideal” and “perfect” apartment is often challenging. One has to equip himself with useful information in order to find the place that would best suit his needs and befit his purpose. There are several factors to consider that arise from both subjective and objective circumstances: financial and familial, occupational and social, practicality and aesthetic. Fundamental aspects are also considered such as affordability, convenience, comfort, and community.

However, the areas to be considered, more often than not, boil down to lifestyle and location. And how you gather, organize, and prioritize these information for a productive decision-making is a matter of finding a mutually beneficial agreement between your envisioned lifestyle and chosen location. Where is your lifestyle best served by your living?

To see how location meets lifestyle in the search for true rental love, let’s shine the spotlight on a specific area like Los Angeles, Calif. Teeming with dreamy apartment suitors courting seekers for affection, the L.A. real estate market magnifies the overarching need to fact-check lifestyle with location when putting a (key)ring on it.

Image via Flickr

Finding a New Lease in the ‘City of Angels’

Los Angeles’ “World City” status is not only limited to entertainment. It encompasses industry fields from science and technology to international commerce, too. This dynamic metropolis is a strong magnet to new residents, business magnates, and extended-stay visitors.

Construction initiatives are enhancing the city’s real estate options, transportation systems, and emerging neighborhoods. And today, its reputation is assured as a versatile multi-industry, family-friendly town—with place and space, sunny attitude and waiting success story for every “Angelenos” of any age, background, and profession.

Los Angeles apartments offer choices and opportunities that are extraordinarily varied and abundant. Anyone may score a rental to fit his/her reasons for living and working in this city.

Yet such wealth of choice can breed great risks and challenges in search processes: dire indecision or uninformed decision-making, endless second-guessing or split-second signing to name a few. And presumably, you want neither to be crashing on a friend’s couch forever nor to find yourself stuck in digs you could’ve discovered sooner that it didn’t suit you at all.

How can you possibly hone your hunt?

Start with the Facts and Stick to Them

While the Hollywood scene reflects the rental-seeker’s wide-eyed predicament on a grand scale, the truth is apartment seekers everywhere face similar (if on a smaller-scale) quandaries. They are challenged to sift through their given area’s availing opportunities and choices, and single out that one space that truly fits.

The key is to approach your rental mission with a conscientious eagle-eye on the pertinent facts plan-of-attack, and stick to them.

Make a list prioritizing the considerations and the characteristics you desire to weigh your options. These should include features that do not only cover the physical aspect (square footage, kitchen quality, light and windows), but also include the building type and amenities; neighborhood and community; geographical proximity; and of course, financial implications like rental fees, costs, and budget.

Leave the Big Guns (and Big Eyes) to the Tourists

Then research your city or town by neighborhood, each of which might well have its own identity, vibe, demographic and, most likely, pros and cons for you.

Contemplate comprehensively your lifestyle needs, wants, habits, and quirks; and imagine where they’ll be most compatible with your specific objectives in your city or town best served.

Check thoroughly apartment availability in your outstanding neighborhoods and arrange numerous in-person viewings, first via online resources and then through landlords and property managers. Verify every last detail.

Now it’s a matter of putting your lists and research into live action. Keep your eye on the prize. Happy Hunting!

Gambling has been around for centuries and it is not something new or recently discovered. But it has always been viewed as evil, and people have always been discouraged to try it. It is only lately that there is an implicit acceptance of gambling. People actually set a night to play a game or two of poker. Some spend their precious salaries just to wager on casinos in hopes of grabbing that big win. With the emergence of online casinos, gambling has never been more popular.

Two Kinds of Casinos

There are two kinds of casinos that are well-accepted by most gamblers – the traditional brick and mortar casinos and online casinos. Traditional casinos have always been around the gambling circle. These casinos are known for its glamorous reputation, and for its different attractions. When you speak of a casino, people would always picture men in tux and women in gowns playing cards.

On the other hand, online casinos are quite young in the gaming business, as they only start out on the mid 90’s. They have also reached amazing heights with billions of dollars worth of market all around the world. This is not surprising since the Internet have apparently become common and accessible to most people.

Comparison

Most land-based casinos offer three types of games: the table games, slots, and gaming machines like Roulette. Before a player walks in the casino, they would have to purchase chips that they would use to play in any games, except for the machines. Some games require minimum cash deposit in order for a person to play. The only drawback to this kind of casino is that the gaming odds are not in favor of the players. This is why most people would tend to lose in traditional casinos. So before a player engages on any casino games, it is best to observe the odds first. If they feel the odds are not favorable, then know the time when to stop the game.

Likewise, Internet-based casinos offer better chances of winning. The best thing about online casinos is that they provide different rewards and incentive to its players. Given that the online casino industry is a competitive business, players can grab this advantage to get bonuses and free stuff to join or play at various gambling sites. Some casinos offer above fifty percent of the player’s original stake. Plus, these casinos give the convenience of playing games at the comfort of their homes. No land or air travel expenses, no hotel accommodations, and the best of all, players don’t have to give tips to casino dealers.

No matter how much we budget, sometimes we have to spend more money than we have in our bank account. The car breaks down, the basement floods, you experience theft or loss. You’ve got to find a way to pay for these problems, even if you don’t have enough dough. Don’t despair. Sometimes a personal loan will provide enough to help you get over that financial hump. The best way to have your personal loan is to find one that works the best for you.

Image from Flickr

What is a Personal Loan?

It would be nice if we all had big savings accounts, and plenty of money in the “rainy day” fund. But sometimes rainy days outnumber the sunny ones, and that makes it impossible to save. A personal loan is a debt taken on by a consumer. There are different kinds of personal loans. The loan is paid back to a lender in small payments which are given slowly over time. Instead of having to come up with a lump sum to deal with an unexpected event, you can get the money you need right away and pay it back as you earn it.

Paying Off a Personal Loan

A personal loan will have a fixed term and rate, making it easy for you to focus on repaying the debt. You always know what you owe and when, so you can adjust your budgeting plans accordingly. Paying a little bit at a time is a lot easier than paying for an emergency all at once. If you don’t have a credit card, or even if you do, personal loans provide a quick solution to those unexpected problems. A simple payment plan is the best way to have your personal loan work for you and your finances.

Getting a Personal Loan

The short answer for getting a loan begins at the bank. But actually getting a personal loan from a bank is a huge dog-and-pony show. You have to fill out forms, jump through hoops, answer questions, collect paperwork and then stand around while someone in a suit judges your financial worth. It can be an exhausting experience.

Cash loans from Great Plains Loan, by contrast, may be obtained online. You fill out a simple online form, and even if you have minor credit problems you can be approved in minutes. You don’t have to sit in someone’s office and sweat, or dig through last year’s tax return to find out how much you made. Instead, you can get almost-instant approval, have the money you need sent straight to your bank account and take care of the emergency expense at hand. In many emergency situations, cash loans are the best solution when the need for a quick emergency cash option arises.

Navigating the financial world can be overwhelming. When it comes to giving money to your bank or credit union to open up a checking and/or savings account, you’ll see that they are all smiles, and would go to great lengths to make the transaction as simple as pie. They also offer all financial products and services available for all your money needs in the future.

Good thing is, there are also companies out there that are willing and happy to lend you money during emergency situations, facilitating your needs quickly like cash advance lenders, where application and processing is fast.

There is an utmost need to look into the characteristics of a reputable loan company before you do any business with them.

Accreditation

It is advisable to do a search at the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website to check if it is listed and BBB-accredited and sticks to good business practices. If the prospect company is not shown, then it would be best to search other loan companies.

Legitimacy

It is best to search the lending company business profile. Do check the loan company’s interest rates for the loans. It is also a must to confirm the address and phone number on-line. Be on the alert if a P.O. Box address is given than a street address. A reputable company will list a phone number and have customer-service representatives to accommodate customer inquiries.

It would be worthwhile to see the Ripoff Reports and Consumer Affairs websites to check on the loan company. When you enter the name of the loan company, you’ll find results regarding its legitimacy.

Application Fees Not Required

A reputable company will not ask nor collect applications fees prior to the loan. Their profit is made on the interest of the loan you have made.

Discussing Legal Transactions Personally

A reputable lender will want to meet the borrower in person to finalize documentation and make transactions legal. Requesting a lawyer to go over the contract’s terms will affirm the company’s legal transactions.

Real Lenders Don’t Ask for Your Credit Card Number

A legitimate lender can do a background search on you and see how many credit cards you have. If someone wants you to put in your card number with the expiration date and security code number on the back, they are planning on charging your account. This is a huge red flag.

There are No Guarantees

A real lender will try to work with you but can’t always deliver a loan. If a company says they guarantee to approve anyone for a loan, this is just not true.

Take these tips to heart and find a loan company that will immediately assist you during emergency situations.

With all the recent headlines pointing towards the nation’s troubling debt load, it’s easier than ever to wonder just what purchases merit a move into carrying debt in one’s personal life. Numerous politicians make decisions for the entire nation in regards to the total amount of debt to be brought upon the federal balance sheet.

While they may have been overspending in an egregious fashion in recent years, that’s not an example individuals need follow too closely! With careful thinking and monitoring, it’s often a wise decision for the individual to only accrue a manageable amount of debt. Why? Otherwise, you may never be able to afford to make certain relatively essential, personally beneficial purchases. Like what? Read on.

1. A Roof Over Your Head

At the top of any list of installment loans purchases is a home. The recent market bubble has led to more stringent down payment rules, but down payments have historically always been around to demonstrate the commitment of the buyer. And a home is worth committing your funds to-–especially now–even if those funds are partially borrowed and result in a mortgage.

Home prices went up for a very long time. They’ve come down for about four years now. Probably very few people are capable of spotting the exact bottom of the housing market, but one thing is for sure: the premiums of years past have been removed from the housing market. That’s great, because any home purchase made from here on out should result in the classic scenario—the home rises in value over time as your installment loan is paid off with an ever easier to manage monthly payment.

2. Education

College is the modern era’s version of what a high school diploma could land someone decades ago-–decent employment for life. It’s worth taking one’s education a step or two further, moving into the master’s or doctorate realms. These degrees now offer the true prize: excellent employment amongst other professionals, as well as an outstanding pay grade! It’s worth a few years of debt to make the investment in one’s own skills, which will have lifelong benefits.

3. Medical Expenses

Beyond furthering one’s financial picture or educational level, there are a host of other reasons to take on a bit of debt. One is to cover medical bills that pop up, as most medical bills do, unexpectedly. With or without insurance, if you or a loved one encounters a serious medical issue, you’ll face steep medical bills. Hospitals don’t post their prices like virtually every other establishment that charges a ‘customer,’ so it’s easy to end up with very large bills despite your usual efforts towards personal thrift.

Unfortunately, hospitals and the doctors behind medical treatment typically demand rather immediate payment. This may not fit in with the balance in your checking account. A loan can get medical folks paid off, which will keep the bill collectors off your back. It will also keep any threat of bankruptcy at bay, as you have time to pay down the balance.

4. Nontraditional Education

Take a sabbatical. Different people have various terms for the same thing, but the end result is that people take time away from their career to do something which will further their knowledge base. This can involve traveling the world for a year, or immersing oneself into Buddhist culture to learn more about world religions.

The flip side to the educational process is the lack of income during the time spent away from the regular job world. Most people who have embarked on such a life changing adventure would relay that it’s worth taking on some debt to get it done in good style–-a full block of time–-rather than working on the same theme a few weeks at a time over the space of years.

5. Personal Goals

Learn how to fly. Course instruction and airplane rentals won’t cost nearly as much as college or a home, but they’re not inexpensive, either. And once you’ve got your license, you’ll want to be able to fly frequently. Getting a loan at the outset can help you keep the lessons occurring regularly, which will help to ensure success.

Trying to finance ‘luxury learning’ might become questionable if personal funds suddenly become tight for some reason. Setting up the full range of financing at the outset is wise if you truly want to set your wings free!

6. Life Enrichment

Enroll in a series of life coaching sessions with an established life coach. Most people aren’t reaching their true potential despite any efforts on their part. Spend some time at personal betterment under the tutelage of someone who can examine your shortcomings and focus on your strengths. Their skill at being more objective than you is what makes the price, and the results, worth the investment.

CONCLUSION

There are many reasons besides the purchase of material possessions to take on a chunk of debt. While the government isn’t quite looking into self improvement with its debt efforts, most of the reasons suggested here will improve your life over the long haul. Perhaps they’ll convince you that smartly managed debt is a good thing.

Art is your own expression. It’s how you translate things into creation with your own ideas. It’s life itself. There are different ways on how you create an art. It’s either you choose painting, music, or even movies. Edward Bass, producer of some unique films has his own artistry and that is presented by being able to write scripts and choose the right movies. The films he chose are about how reality of things affect life as people knows it. The films are about people who have lives that are not perfect, yet are affecting other individuals, and even the audience.

His presence in the film industry is a big contribution to other producers, actors, and even the masses, where it has even been realized in other countries. For working so long in the movies, he has worked with big names such as Stanley Kramer, Guillermo del Toro, Kevin Spacey, Emilio Estevez and a lot more to mention. Most of the films were nominated at the Toronto, Sundance, Berlin, and Venice Film Academies. This only means that he is a hardworking man since this is where his life is. Edward Bass, producer of some documentaries has his own history as to how everything started.

Before becoming a producer, he managed actors and personalities such as the Ballerina and a Boxer. His beginnings on the interest of becoming part of the cinema are when his parents arranged backstage appointments with Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and others. One of them that he met backstage became one of those he managed. He never stopped being with actors, where he even worked with Anthony Hopkins in “Bobby”, Alec Baldwin in “Mimi’s First Time”, and other films. Edward Bass producer of independent films is now directing his own movie, knowing that this will be a big break for him.

His name is respected as a producer and now he’s trying to make it as a director. Whatever he does, it’s about dedication and passion. The title of the movie is Belle, which centers the plot about a female serial killer. His inspiration was Alfred Hitchcock, a famous suspense and psychological thriller in the 1940’s. He’s even using some of the camera techniques such as copying on how a person would gaze and framed shots that enhance the overall impact of some suspense scenes. Edward Bass, producer, has been successful in being a director. The chosen art which made him successful will continue further because of his love for the art and craft. He followed what he really loves, knowing that it is the place where he belongs. It maybe his first time as a director, but he knows that the art is where his heart is.

It isn’t the first time we’ve heard of this. First it was a man from Croatia that hid his identity from police. We now know who he is, but what was his real motivation? Now there’s another US man who’s been arrested and he doesn’t want anyone to know who he is, either.

He was arrested on July 1st for trespassing in a Utah parking garage. He’s very well mannered, has lightly graying hair and a stubbly gray beard. He’s articulate and polite.

He’s thought to be in his sixties and he’s had a very pleasant characterthe entire three weeks he’s been incarcerated. He says the food is good and he doesn’t even mind the uniform. He gets three squares and even clean clothes every day.

John Doe Keeps Them Asking

It wouldn’t be the first time a homeless person tried going to jail to get a warm bed and hot food. Maybe there’s another state that wants this guy, or maybe he’s hiding from someone and wants the protection of the jail.

Maybe he’s on sex offender registries somewhere, or some other kind of registry. Maybe he’s wanted in another country? The man has been very guarded about his past and where he came from and he was too smart for the police department’s trick of giving him a prepaid calling card to call home with. He thanked them for the card, but he called nobody.

The police are completely baffled. They’re asking the Utah public to take a look at him and see if anyone recognizes him. He’s pretty confident that, somehow, nobody will.

Time too often shatters value, renders all style weak — but the classic designs of American automobiles prove instead to defy convention. Their inventive appearances allow them to be without flaw. And there are six cars that most embody that sense of perfection:

Plymouth Road Runner

Celebrating high performance is the Plymouth Road Runner: the precursor of an entire generation of muscle cars. Forged in 1968 by the Chrysler Corporation, the Road Runner was a return to high standards but low costs. Its 383 CID V8 engine, along with a Hurst shifter, offered quick reactions and smooth transitions — allowing it to become a favorite of all drivers.

Pontiac Bonneville Special

Experimenting with chic curves and powerful mechanics is the Pontiac Bonneville Special. This 1954 concept car was proof of the American fascination with stars and exploration. Its bold design resembled a rocket, with gull-wings and deep wheel enclosures. The four-speed automatic transmission, however, made it worthy of the road; and this remains one of the most sought after classic cars on eBay.

Ford Mustang Boss 429

Proving to be ever elusive is the Ford Mustang Boss 429. This muscle car was created in 1969: when its production span was just a single year, with only 900 units created. A lack of quantity doesn’t obscure its quality, however. The 429 boasted a Hemi-engine and a horsepower output of over 500. Its speed was unparalleled, dominating the roads through 1970 (when it was discontinued due to struggles within the Ford factory regarding its engine capabilities. Insurance companies feared it was simply too much to control).

Oldsmobile F-88

Innovation doesn’t always succeed — as proven by the Oldsmobile F-88. This stunning car (with its chrome accents and flared fenders) was an attempt to redefine the American market. Its utilization of a V8 engine and a fiberglass body was impressive, but it was still overlooked in the wake of high production costs. The Oldsmobile F-88 was poorly received by General Motors and, unfortunately, only a few were marketed.

Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt

Epitomizing the notion of rebellion is the Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt: a 1964 limited edition creation. This Plexiglas vehicle (which featured lightweight components, leaf springs and rounded exhaust headers) was meant only for drag racing. Its intention was a flawless performance, and its 600 horsepower output allowed that intention to succeed. An aerodynamic design ensured that no mile was wasted, and the Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt embodied the American need to challenge the road in style.

Pontiac GTO

Ushering in the age of power is the Pontiac GTO. This original muscle machine (crafted in 1964) began the quest for streamlined transportation. With its front-engine layout, four-barrel carburetor and automatic transmission, it challenged the notions of driving. It was the first American car built purely for speed, and its arrival summoned endless changes within the market. The Pontiac GTO is responsible for all of the innovations that followed.

Drivers wish to conquer distance and these six cars allow them to. What could be better?

Most of us are content to drive around in everyday cars. There are some people, however, for which nothing less than unusual will do. These unusual cars can sometimes lead to advancements in the technology of everyday cars. This is especially the case if it is a concept car.

Let’s take a look at some of the most unusual cars.

The Three Wheeled Car

Who needs four wheels when three will do? This might have been what Matus Protaczka was thinking when he designed the MAG Magnetic, a car with only three wheels. The car runs on an electric engine, however is only able to operate on magnetic embedded roads. The concept car design may not be practical for most roads and situations, but it sure does take the cake for ingenuity.

The Car That Knows how You are Feeling

The Nissan Pivo 2 is a concept car which focuses on being eco-friendly and user-interactive. The car is powered by electricity, but unlike other electrical cars, can omit more than double the power. The pint-sized power packet also comes equipped with a robot which interacts with the driver based on the information it receives from voice and facial recognition systems. Who knows? It may even be able to remind you of things you need to do that day, like paying your
car insurance.

So those are a couple of concept cars you may not have known about. Such cars may sound weird and wonderful at this point in time, but car designers use them as a way of testing out technology for future models for the mainstream market.
Now, for some unusual cars that are all about having fun.

The Car That Looks Like a UFO

Perhaps this person has an intense interest in alien spacecraft, or perhaps they just want to freak a few people out when they drive down the street. Whatever the reason, this car shaped like a UFO is enough to have anyone believing!

The Wooden Car

Perhaps this is the way that eco-friendly cars should be going? This wooden car is totally recyclable! Although its design harkens back to the romance of the art deco era, the polishing may be too much upkeep for some. And be careful when it rains, who knows if it is waterproof?

The Double Car

You’re probably thinking, what?! Well, take a small car, and then place another one exactly the same upside down on the roof of the original car, and you’ve got yourself a double car! It’s a mirror image that is real, complete with fake legs sticking out the top (or should that be bottom) of the car.

From concept creations to current marvels, there’s a plethroa of vehicles unusual enough to deserve a double take. What is the most unusual car you’ve seen?

It’s fun to be able to use your creativity at work. It’s even better if you get paid handsomely to be creative. Here are the 5 highest paid careers in the entertainment industry.

1. Executive Producer

When it comes to the film industry, being a film producer can be very profitable. This job can include anything from writing for, investing in, or managing the movie that’s being produced. Producers typically decide on which film ideas should actually go into production, and then they either pay to produce the film or raise the capital to pay for production. Then the executive producer will hire writers, the director, casting directors, etc. Typically, the producer will have a big say in the direction of the story line and who is cast for the major roles.

2. Fashion Designer

If your passion is fashion, then being a fashion designer can be very profitable. Many who dream of becoming a fashion designer start by getting a fashion degree. This lays the foundation for success in the fashion world. Many designers begin their careers as fashion merchandisers or stylists before launching their own fashion lines. This helps in networking in the fashion industry and understanding what is involved in creating fashion lines that are successful. If running your own fashion line interests you, getting a business degree with a firm foundation in marketing, in addition to your fashion degree, can also help you.

3. Screenwriters

There are two ways to get hired as a screenwriter:

Write a script, and then shop it around to film producers.

Get hired to write a script for a movie that has already been chosen to be produced.

Depending on the deal that’s made when screenwriters are hired, screenwriters usually get a percentage of the money that the film produces, in addition to normal pay. That means that writers for big box office productions make quite a bit of dough.

4. Artist and Repertoire Administrator

An artist and repertoire administrator, often abbreviated A&R administrator, works for record labels. This job includes duties such as watching budgets for artists, including keeping track of studio time, musicians, and other miscellaneous expenses. The A&R administrator also works with the A&R coordinator on the progress of artists.

5. Film Editors

When it comes to producing high-quality films that have tight story lines, sometimes it comes down to the film editor. Editors spend hours in front of monitors choosing the best take for each scene, fulfilling the vision set out by the director.

Although a career in the entertainment industry may sound glamorous, the fact is that many of the jobs are tedious. Still, if you love what you’re doing, you’ll enjoy it. And if you choose the right career path, you could end up making a very nice salary. If you worked in the entertainment industry, what would your dream job be?

It seems the service at a fake Apple store in Chinais better than the service obtained from real Apple employees. A knock-off shop in Kumning has all the same décor, the same wooden tables and chairs with iPads on them for customers to try out.

The store is sectioned off with different Apple products just like the authentic retail store. Items are sitting out for display and even the same promotional posters are on the walls and windows. It isn’t known for sure whether the products were actual Apple products or if they, too, were knock offs.

The Fake Apple Employees are Good Reps

When asked, the employees all swore that they work for Apple. When people bring them their products for service, they send them to Apple and then return them to the customers, who think it was fixed right there in the store. There are iPhone 4 and MacBook Proposters all over the windows, too.

When asked if they carried web cams for MacBooks, the sales person replied no, but their store in Lujiazui might have some; the store in Lajiazui is a real Apple store that has no idea of the Kumning ‘branch’ that wears the big white apple logo out front.

When asked if they knew the store was a knock offstore, customers replied that they didn’t care. They’ve used the services of the real Apple stores and they don’t get near the good service that the knock off store gives them. Apple services take too long, as well; people get faster service from this fake store.

Funny. Hopefully Apple appreciates their pirates.

In these days of high tech everything, it’s hard to imagine that there’s anything that can’t be done, somehow. Technology keeps doubling and tripling itself every year and gadgets keep getting smaller and smarter.

However, sometimes it’s the low tech stuffthat surprises us, teaches us something we hadn’t seen coming. For instance, take Bavarian couple Rudi and Beate Greithanner, who recently discovered an ancient system of tunnels under their farm with some very low tech equipment. In fact, it’s so low tech that you can’t really call it equipment.

It was their cow. She was grazing in the pasture and suddenly she sank in the wet ground up to her hips. Everyone around came to help get the cow out of there, leaving a gaping hole in the ground.

Local Historians Baffled

Rudi went and examined the hole. It looked bigger under the surface. He stuck his head down into it and looked around – then he got down inside it and found a damp, dark tunnel that descended diagonally into the earth.

When others heard of the farm anomaly they came to see the great tunnel. It went 82 meters and connected to another tunnel, revealing a network of underground tunnels believed to be built in the 18th century. They tried to guess what the tunnels could have been for.

Some think the tunnels were where they punished people and some thought maybe animals were kept down there. But, no feces or anything that could give them a hint; it appeared to be swept clean, which they think meant it was for spirits. The tunnels are still a mystery to this day.

The study of the relationships between countries which include inter-governmental organizations the roles of states, multinational corporations, non-governmental organizations, and international non governmental organizations is known as International Relations or IR and can also be categorized as International Affairs.

This study is both a public and academic policy field and can be either normative and positive because both of these aspects targets analyzing in addition to formulating the foreign policy of certain states. A great way to learn of international news is through reportingtheworld.org which is an important around the world news resource. IR is frequently perceived as a part of political science, but a key part of the academic world prefers it as a field of study that is in the interdisciplinary field.

IR, as an aspect of political science, centers on diverse fields such as sociology, international law, anthropology, social work, geography, philosophy, gender studies, nationalism, global finance, economic development, human rights and so much more.

One important concept of IR decision making is called Conjuncture, which in correlation with equality and freedom of action are essential elements. A decision maker must consider international conditions when he/she takes a role that would result in creating various responses. Another important concept of IR is power and can be explained in degrees of capabilities, resources, and international affairs influence. This power is often separated up into concepts of soft and hard power, with soft power covering cultural influence, diplomacy, and economics, and hard power covering coercive power such as using force.

Mohammed Mahmud Abdul Mun’em has been sentenced to death for randomly shooting into crowds of protestors during the revolution that led to the resignation of the Egyptian president. Mr. Mun’em was sentenced “in absentia” because his whereabouts are currently unknown.

Whether you agree with the handing down of this death sentence or not, or for that matter, if you even agree with the idea of war, no matter what form it takes (revolutions are simply civil wars; however, most revolutions have a shorter duration than “regular” wars), the fact remains that war does have rules. Some people will also disagree on this, but it doesn’t make it less true.

Mahmud Abdul Mun’em was sentenced to death because he did not act in a military manner; he did not know, nor did he most likely care, at whom he was firing. He did not know if the people hit by his indiscriminate firing were protest leaders, or for that matter if they actually had anything to do with the protests whatsoever. What if they were simply Egyptian citizens trying to find a safe place during the most volatile stages of the protests?

What if they weren’t even Egyptians? What if they were tourists, foreign reporters, or government officials from other countries? Most likely the crowds being shot into were predominantly Egyptian, but still, if he did not have a specific target, there is no telling who he may have killed.

War has rules. Guns, cannons, rockets, and other weapons should be fired at specific targets, and there should be a reason for firing at those targets.

The Houston market is getting a big boost in the way of cell phones. The Muve music phone from Cricket is now available for the greater Houston area. It’s something that people will be happy to see. For some time now, the world of cell phones has been dominated by over-priced plans that are geared toward making the cell phone company money, but not plans that were geared toward providing real savings to the customer. The more bells and whistles, the more money it costs.

The Muve music phone has changed all that. For just the low price of $55 dollars a month, users can get the best unlimited talk and text, and they can get unlimited music downloads as well. Unlike some phones that can download music and be charged by the song, the Muve allows users to pay a monthly fee to download unlimited music to their phone.

The music download feature isn’t the only thing that makes the Muve music phone one of the better bargains out there on the market. The Muve is Bluetooth compatible. This means you can play the music on your phone through Bluetooth headphones, stereos, and car radios. It’s the best part of the phone, and that feature won’t cost you a single dime.

The world of cell phones doesn’t always throw you a bargain. This team it’s giving you one that you can love and will allow you to get all the hottest music for a fraction of the cost you would spend anywhere else. Houston just got a big upgrade.

If you’ve always been intrigued by the thought of becoming an international news journalist, start by exploring the field and all it has to offer. Majoring in journalism is a good start for entering into this exciting field. You’ll also want to take other steps in addition to focusing on schoolwork to adequately prepare yourself for working as a journalist in the international arena.

Choosing the Right Field of Study

Although journalism is your safest approach when perusing the programs offering a bachelor degree at earnmydegree.com, there may be other majors you can explore. English and political science are other majors that prepare you for the type of work you’d do as an international journalist. Whichever degree program you choose, you will want to focus on strengthening your communication skills, which includes a strong writing ability and excellent speaking and listening skills. Your interpersonal skills must also be highly developed because you will spend much of your time interacting with and interviewing people.

Carving Your Journalism Career Path

Becoming an international journalist will require diligence, persistence and planning. It’s a competitive field, requiring you to be outstanding in numerous ways. To increase your chances of getting interviews, become familiar with a variety of countries and cultures, gain fluency in multiple languages and stay on top of the prevalent issues in the international realm. Additionally, study the lives of other international journalists, such as Christiane Amanpour, to see how they worked their way up to their current positions.

Working as an international news journalist will have its challenges, but it’s a rewarding career that will keep you stimulated and engaged.

Even in his death, Osama Bin Laden has been able to stir up a little bit of controversy. The infamous terrorist was killed by the United States government just a few weeks ago. The nation, who had been terrorized by his plot that was successfully executed on September 11, 2001, celebrated his death in a variety of ways.

While some choose to weep with the remembrance of lives lost in the World Trade Center collapse, there were those who had a much more joyful reaction. Some choose to view the event as a treat or a prize. Thy choose to see it as a the cherry on top of their day. There were celebrations in front of the White House that involved beach balls.

The nation, even in its time of happiness, questioned if the celebration was the right thing to do. There were plenty of voices that believed celebrating the death of any man, no matter what he did to someone else, was wrong and painted a bad light on our country.

There were those who believed that it deserved to be celebrated. Whether it was in the privacy of ones own home, or in the middle of a casino bonus, that they had the right to be happy and express that joy however they want.

The end result was an overwhelming wish to let the subject die for the greater good of saying goodbye to one of the most hated men on the planet. Still, it shows that the country can have healthy discussion even in times of great joy. That is real progress.

Aircraft flown by NATO pilots and manned by NATO personnel have made several strikes at different strategic military points in Libya. Some of the targets are where known pro-Ghadafi forces are said to be located.

The fact that NATO (the letters stand for “North Atlantic Treaty Organization) aircraft is being used in these air strikes means that no one particular country is involved. That’s because NATO is an alliance of 28 different countries. In other words, if NATO is involved, personnel from any or all of the member countries can be pressed into service.

Using NATO forces can actually be a good thing. No one country can be “blamed” for starting hostilities or providing assistance to a country where uprisings and other types of unrest are occurring.

Further, a country’s government may target a specific NATO country for retaliation, but if this does occur, other NATO countries will come to that member country’s aid. The military of the targeted area will not have to bear the burden of defense alone.

NATO was originally formed as a result of the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on April 4, 1945. As was mentioned earlier, if one NATO country is attacked, the other member countries help with the defense. This is known as a “collective defense system”.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the number of NATO countries expanded as several of the newly formed Eastern European nations joined the alliance. Today, these countries work in counter-terrorism situations (as a result of September 11) as well as addressing any current situations.

With the death toll currently standing at 129, the Joplin, Missouri, tornado is the worst tornado in 60 years. Damage around the town of approximately 400,000 people is massive, and includes the local hospital. Hospital officials believe the building will be declared “unsalvageable”; if this occurs, the current structure will be demolished and a completely new facility rebuilt on another site.

Meanwhile, rescue efforts continue, and searches are still being conducted for possible survivors. Rescue crews, which includes over 50 dogs trained to detect human scent, as well as their handlers, are covering some areas for a fourth time, with plans to make a fifth sweep if necessary.

This is a brief recap of what is currently happening in Joplin that is making national headlines. What isn’t being reported is what is going on behind the scenes. However, most of the people involved in the behind-the-scenes work actually want it kept this way.

The relief efforts, which include churches from areas in the South where tornado damage also occurred just a few weeks ago, loading up their vans and buses with surplus goods that were donated for local tornado victims, are already underway. For these people, it’s not a question of if they can help; instead, the attitude is that of “how can we not help these people? We truly know what they are going through.”

As relief efforts continue in all parts of the country where tornado damage has occurred, we should be encouraged to see the examples of goodness that has always been inherent in people.

Natural disaster is the time when the affected area feels completely collapsed for a few days as they go though the tough times of loss of man, property and job. It is at this time that they need government to act faster so that they can help the people to come out of those situations at the earliest.

In such a scenario, it is important that the government arranges for food immediately so that no deaths occur due to hunger. It is seen that a lot of people are victimized by the natural calamity such as earthquake, flood, and land sliding and so on. There are people who do not die during these disaster but they die due to hunger as they do not get anything to eat during these times. Thus, food should be given first priority.

After food, the arrangement of shelter should be done without delay. All the people should be taken to a safe place away from the affected area so that they can heave a sigh of relief. The arrangement of food, clothing and other daily necessities should be done till the conditions at the affected place are restored. It is also important that immediate steps are taken to restore the conditions at the affected place.

In this way, it is important that government acts faster during natural disasters so that the lives of the survivors of calamity can be saved. Citizens of the country should also help the government in money, kind or by volunteering to offer their services during natural calamity. This way, the whole country would be ready to face any calamity that takes place.

It’s not uncommon for everyone—especially people with families–to look at various ways to save money when tax time comes around. Charitable donations are one of the most common types of deductions made by families hoping to receive a refund from the IRS. While most people view charitable donations as donating clothing or books or food, it’s becoming increasingly popular to donate the family car.

Car donations for tax purposes are popular because it’s a relatively painless process. Once the car is donated, the organization can sell the car for parts, use the car to conduct business or even sell it. Any profit that is made from the donated car goes directly to the charity to be used as they see fit. A great example of an organization that accepts car donations and uses the profits for a good cause is the program known as Kars for Kids. This organization collects used cars and directs the profits toward helping children receive a proper education.

If a car donation sounds like it might be something you would be interested in doing, here are a couple of things you should keep in mind.

The donation must be made to an organization or charity that the IRS has verified. Only donations to IRS verified organizations are eligible for deductions, so this is an important point if you are looking to claim a credit on your taxes.

You must also know the value of the car that you are donating. Occasionally documentation is required to show the value of the car for tax deduction purposes. If there is no appraisal of the car included, a family is forced to take the lowest deduction possible and could be missing out.

It’s important to make sure you understand the process to insure that you have all the bases covered. Both you and the charity of your choice can benefit from your car donation.

Government is chosen by people they vote for their own government. In many countries except for few who are still under dictatorship elections are held and it is the responsibility of the citizen to choose the right government. But how many people in a country utilize this power hardly few. In democratic countries it can be observed that the majority of people who vote are from lower classes and there are very few from the upper class. The reason for this ration is that the poor person has a hope that if he succeeds in choosing the right government then he might gain something from it but for a rich person he does not need anything and feels no necessity of voting.

If the whole nation votes and selects its own government then the decision will be genuine and of course the chosen government will be the best as well. Its governments responsibility to look after the progress if the country but that should not mean that they forget about the lower class people who have chosen them as well. In developing countries the poverty and illiteracy is the worst condition. Children are starving without food, its Governments responsibility to reach this sector and help them.

We cannot blame everything on Government we are equally responsible for the deaths of innocent children due to insufficient food and people who are not able to find work because they are not literate. If a responsible citizen tries to help one person then the country will progress at a lightning speed. Everyone should try and take the responsibility of one poor person then it will not take much time to become a developed country.

Every country has faced war and has tasted it well. No country has ever liked it as the war has always left a country shattered and downtrodden. War is not a solution for any issue. The whole generation is well educated and can sit and resolve all the major problems without sacrificing innocent lives, who fight for the government and lose their lives. These soldiers who sacrifice their lives have a family back home. No other person can imagine the level of agony that family feels when their family member’s leaves on his legs and returns back in a coffin. Soldiers who are fighting in the war and sacrificing everything some times are even not aware of the reason they are fighting.

The best example for this was during World War 2, peace was declared but in some remote cities and countries the news did not reach and they kept fighting for days together even after the war ended. War leave the next generation into misery and with the technology used on the enemy county is so bad that the coming generation is affected due the chemicals used in the rocket or missiles.

Peace is a solution for every issue, there is nothing that cannot be resolved with a cool mind. But yes it is even true that there are evil minded people in the society who initiate things and later leads into war. It is predicted that if a war like World War 2 is happens again then the world would definitely end. Due to the advanced weapons developed these days will leave no country alive. Never encourage war peace is the solution for all problems war sheds blood and does no good.

Let us take a look at some of the disadvantages of some mediums of news.

Newspapers – Though this is the commonly preferred medium of news, it has a biggest disadvantage. What gets reported in the morning through your newspaper may not be the same news in the evening. Although newspaper is portable, you have to discard it after it is read. It takes up storage space. Placing advertisements is also costly as advertisements are charged per words. So, to create an impact on the common man, you have to create an advertisement is few words that is catchy as well as conveys the meaning correctly. Printing newspaper contributes to paper pollution. Many trees are axed to make a newspaper.

Magazines – Magazines are a costly medium of news, cannot be afforded by all. Like newspapers, news in magazines has a short shelf life and once read, has to be discarded. Although portable, it has to be stored, to be discarded later. Not all the news can be covered in a magazine. You have different types of magazines catering to all interest hence it is not possible to cover news extensively in a magazine.

Television – Although the most preferred medium of news by everybody but it also creating a menace to the society. There are so many channels which are unnecessarily influenced by media and report incorrect, unhealthy news. Incorrect coverage of news leads to unnecessary turmoil, confusion among people; it can even lead to war. News needs to be reported correctly and responsibly. Watching excess of television is a waste of time due to which social interaction among people is reduced. Also, children watching television should always be monitored by parents. Some news can be really graphical or violent, should not be viewed by children as it can cause mental trauma. So, report news correctly and in the right manner.

It’s no secret that businesses are struggling in today’s bad economy. If your online business is having some trouble holding on, you may be able to turn things around by finding out more about what your customers need and want from you. If you don’t know what they really look for when they come to your site, you’re doing yourself and your customers a disservice. Instead of wallowing in self pity and slow sales, take the time to find out what your customers and potential customers think about client interaction, your overall website, and the products and/or services that you offer.

You can do all of that through free online surveys. You won’t have to pay anything to create them, and a lot of websites use them. They’re popular on sites like CNN, where readers are often surveyed about their opinions on popular topics, and they’re also popular with big chain retailers like Wal-Mart, which really wants to know whether you had a good experience shopping with them, and if there was something that they could have done better – so that they’ll know for next time. You can incorporate surveys onto your website, as well, and find out the information you need to know to better serve your customers.

If you want to retain customers, you have to know when you’re doing things right and when you’re doing things wrong. It’s impossible to please all of your customers all of the time, of course, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try to correct any large issues quickly. If you’re getting a lot of complaints something has to change, especially if you want to keep your business afloat in a difficult economy. Don’t underestimate the power of a simple survey to ask how you’re doing and what customers would like to see changed. People like to feel valued, and surveying them can be enough to keep them coming back.

Have you ever noticed if you amiss when you do not get your newspaper to read along while sipping your morning coffee? There are hundreds of people who get their daily dose of news while reading newspapers in tube or while riding the bus. News channels have started broadcasting top 20 or top 25 news items for the day in 5-10 minutes for people who like to stay updated yet who do not have the time to read the entire newspaper.

Current affairs, international news, national news can work as great ice-breakers between strangers, however be careful not to discuss politics though. Political views may differ causing tension between individuals. The world of journalism and news is very challenging. It requires lot of efforts to uncover the latest stories. Reporters and the media crew are known to travel far and wide in search of something interesting that could hook the audience to the news channels thus increasing the TRP. Journalists also follow the suit, they need to be excellent in inter-personal communication skills. They should have good networking skills. The television news reporters emphasize on drama and hype to create the sensational news whereas the journalists rely heavily on excellent language and narrative skills to captivate the audience.

Screen presence is important for television news reporters as they need to present the news on an audio visual medium. Many journalists are only known by their names, common man may not know their faces because they use the written medium to interact with the masses. However both these reporters need to have strong literary skills and persuasive skills to achieve their objectives. Reporters and journalists do not or rather cannot work by the clock. They need to be up and running the moment they hear about any event or incident. Many times they need to visit places where an epidemic has broken out or where a natural calamity has created havoc. They visit these places without fear so that the masses can get a first hand broadcast of the scenario without any delay.

As a parent, you already know that you have many responsibilities. These include teaching your child right from wrong-which includes morals and ethics, manners and etiquette, and respect for others. With all the effort you expend to teach these and others, it is easy to forget that they should also learn financial responsibility.

This is actually one of the most important ones, as financial responsibility can actually be linked in some ways to morals and ethics. Many times it is financial difficulties that lead people to engage in immoral or unethical behavior. Therefore, learning financial responsibility is important in order for your child to be a functioning member of society.

Teaching financial responsibility includes helping your children learn budgeting methods. This can start at a relatively young age, when children begin receiving allowances. As they grow, these methods can be expanded to include taking responsibility for any loans and making sure they have sufficient money budgeted to makepayments.

One good way to teach financial responsibility in the area of loans and credit is to call attention to commercials about a debt consolidation service, or relating stories of people you know who needed to take advantage of these services. You can explain to your children that it is sometimes necessary to use a debt consolidation service to “get a handle” on finances, and that’s what the company is there for.

In fact, it is often in the area of student and other loans where older children may first start experiencing financial difficulty. This can happen even if you have taught your child as well as you possibly could about financial responsibility.

If this occurs, you may want to help your child consider if a debt consolidation service could help him get his finances under control, thus allowing him to start over, this time taking to heart all the lessons you taught him about financial responsibility, and applying them so that this does not occur again.

Reports recently have discovered an unfortunate truth: drug addiction is getting higher, accented by a huge increase in deaths due to drug overdose. It’s not a pleasant story to swallow, but it is nevertheless the truth; and treatment centers are feeling the heat as funding for their services is gradually diminishing as well. What does that say about the government? The hope is a reluctant necessity to divvy up the funds as equally as possible.

Whatever reason it would be, it doesn’t change the real issue that many Americans are suffering from a needless disease called drug addiction. It’s this drug addiction that causes drug abuse, effectively killing lives without using any viruses or bullets.

Even the executive director ofalcohol and drug services at Coshocton Behavioral Health, Beth Cormack, feels the tight squeeze on the budget when handling a caseload of 400. Not a good number to deal with when not getting the proper funds. Moreover, when money’s tight, requesting grants gets to be an agonizing process as well as there’s no guarantee that the funds would be both awarded and also awarded under a decent time frame. The sad truth is when dealing with drug abuse, time frames are petty things to worry about. ASAP is the clear mantra rather than time frame.

John Postlethwaite, program manager for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Agency in Ohio, said his program had lost out on $2.9 million due to budget cuts. To even think of the clients that lose out when they desperately need the medical and mental assistance to combat the addiction is both shocking and terrifying. It leaves many questions to be asked—especially this:

Where could we possibly obtain more funds?

That’s a tough question to answer. The only hope is to find a good treatment center, such as at TheCyn.com that will be able to help patients with many different types of addictions.

Recent global political scenario has shown that masses have the power to turn your regime upside down if their patience is tested. To be honest it is the common man who bears the brunt of all the decisions by government. Common man is surrounded with inflation, rising cost of living, social responsibilities and the heavy taxation. Common man wants peace; he is the one who is most impacted in military wars between the countries. Political powers are loggerheads on becoming the super powers of the world. However they fail to understand that war can only bring in destruction. It can never bring about prosperity.

History has proved it time and again that peace alone triumphs. Spending millions of rupees on arms and ammunitions and military warfare is not going to make you a super power. With majority of funds being utilized for enhancing ammunitions, the economy suffers a blow. This amount could have been invested in cutting down costs and reducing the prices of basic amenities. People do not want to live in terror of break out of war. Warring countries are at a loss of human resources and financial resources. Not to mention the distress faced by civilians. Countries and Governments should understand that common man may revolt against this military supremacy and overthrow the ruling parties.

Protecting one’s country against terrorist attacks is important. Government should allocate adequate funds to this purpose however it should also ensure that in course of safeguarding one’s country they do not make other countries insecure about nuclear attacks. One can achieve lot more through peace talks as compared to war. Investing in arms and ammunitions and upgrading military services in order to protect the citizens in case of any attacks. There is no doubt that peace always pays as compared to war. Political leaders across the world should strive together to make this planet a peaceful place to live in. They should form communities that could foster peace and resolve internal conflicts amicably. Signing cease fire agreements are also a good way to promote peace.

Many people know that bankruptcies have been on the rise in the United States over the last several years. With the financial crisis of 2008 and subsequent recession, financial problems quickly became a major national concern. However, declaring bankruptcy is hardly an American problem. Bankruptcy rates are on the rise internationally, affecting individuals, families, businesses and corporations around the globe.

This is a natural result of the global economy. In the past, the benefits of a global economy have been positive; cooperating companies trade goods and services with each other creating a mutually beneficial economic environment. As these trends have continued in recent decades, more and more countries’ economies have begun to rely on the imports and exports from other nations. However, once the economic situation became negative, the impact quickly became created a financial crisis within each individual nation. As a result of these global economics, this recession has truly become a global recession, affecting every nation and most, if not all, families.

Many people have turned to bankruptcy and other resources for relief and to find financial assistance and support. While there are many options available to those in crisis, bankruptcy is a viable option for financial relief for many people. Bankruptcy can be quite a bit of work, and may mean a change in lifestyle in the short term, but the goal of bankruptcy is to achieve financial health in the long run. However, it is also a personal decision that should be made only after thoroughly researching the issue, evaluating the pros and cons, and deciding on which solution works best for each individual need or family. Online resources, such as www.legal-bankruptcy.com can help individuals and families learn more about bankruptcy issues and provide direction for their research. Financial strain is certainly not a unique problem, but the correct solution for you should be unique to your needs.

There may be very few people in this world, who do not read newspapers or who do not watch news channels. It is not necessary that they ardently read or hear every news report, but they always tend to look at the headlines or glance at the quick bytes of celebrities. Headlines are also called national news. These are the facts or information that may impact the nation or that may shed light on recent condition in the nation. Results of election campaigns, any major political scandals or major achievements in field of science, education, business or sport are generally published as headlines.

Covering current affairs and other related topics is not an easy job. A news paper company or the news channels needs to hire multiple reporters who specialize in various fields like sports, music, politics, fashion etc. They need to have at least four to five reporters per section to get enough number of stories. These reporters work on leads given by their communication points. These communication points or tippers can be internal or external. Job of a journalist or a reporter isn’t easy. They need to work on leads and follow up to authenticate the story; they need to find the interesting aspects of the story.

They need to validate the story and carry evidence to prove the originality of the story. Once they get their hands on the story they need to draft a news article or a press release around it in specified number of words. The word count is generally given by the editor in chief. Once the articles are drafted, they are sent to the editor for approval. The editor may ask the journalist or the reporter to add or delete the parts of story if needed. Many times the journalist may need to rework on whole story multiple times till the editor is satisfied. Journalists and reporters are always on move in order to fill us up with the latest update or the latest event on the scene. Kudos to their nonstop efforts to show us the reality.

Earning international recognition is something every watchmaker desires. It is important to be seen as valuable and relevant to the watch making business, as well as become known and respected worldwide. The Michele watch brand has accomplished this, as has been recognized as one of the premier fashion brands, making it instantly significant and in demand.

Michele watches are at the forefront of fashion jewelry and accessory trends. The Michele watches brand understands that there is so much more to a watch making company than simply crafting designer watches. The fashion industry knows what is trendy, and adores what the brand has to offer. Michele watches have been featured in fashion publications like InStyle, US Weekly, Glamour and Self magazines to name a few. There is a Michele watch for everyone’s personal style and preference.

If you’re looking for a high quality, high-fashion timepiece, Michele is the brand you want. You will find what you’re looking for—a timepiece that is trendy yet will stay trendy for a long time. Sometime it is hard to maintain a classic personal style, but it can be done. Michele has proven that, and it’s one of the main reasons the company has attained such strong, international recognition. The quality and design truly speak for themselves, and anyone who sees the timepieces can recognize their value, no matter what the owner wears them with. You don’t need to look any further for the timepiece of your dreams.

NEWS stands for North, East, West and South. What it means is that it will bring you the information from all the corners. News was earlier in form of newspapers or editorials; however with changing times, the way news is presented has changed. News is now available on dedicated channels and dedicated sites. People are curious to know what is happening in different places of the world and it is a tedious and challenging job to provide latest details. Hats off! To the news reporters and camera men who go to distant places in search of stories.

Being a news reporter isn’t a fancy or a glamorous job. It requires lot of dedication and courage to venture into unknown places and get the freshest bytes for your audience. You need to keep your discovery under wraps or there are chances that other channels may telecast it before you do. News channels are also being dragged into the war of TRP (television rating points). There is innate pressure on the reporters to get new stories or to be the first one to bag an interview with an important personality. Reporters are also classified in different categories based on the news that they cover. There are fashion reporters who uncover the latest fashion trends and blunders, there are crime reporters who cover the hideous crime and create awareness among the masses, and there are sports reporters who bring out interesting facts and information about current sports events.

These reporters need to have strong networking skills and excellent communication abilities. They say a successful reporter is the one who is able to get his foot in the door and then convince a person to part off with his time for the interview, that’s not the end; they should be able to make the person speak and grab some interesting quotes. These reporters live the life on the edge. They are fiercely competitive and very persuasive. They will not back off until they get the desired interview and news. Just imagine the effort behind keeping you updated for every second.

Analysts are predicting that 2011 could be a comeback year for real estate, after three years of abysmal drops in housing prices resulting in foreclosures and homeowners owing more to banks than their properties were worth.

The National Association of Realtors reports that there’s an uptick in the pending sales of homes, a key statistic in determining the future of the real estate market. This indicator began to pickup during the second half of 2010, setting the stage for the start of a recovery in 2011. This organization is also predicting an 8% increase in the sales of existing homes this year.

In Canada, Realtors finished 2010 with a strong showing that exceeded expectations, leading many to believe that the country could also see an improving real estate market in 2011.

One driver of this apparent turnaround in both Canada and the U.S. is the availability of low mortgage rates. Experts also say that a predicted decline in joblessness will help the housing market recover. Another important factor in a recovery is moving excess inventory. In an environment where many houses have sat on the market for months or even years, moving these properties will be a priority for Realtors.

Parts of the U.S. that saw record declines in property value will be happy with a stable housing market in 2011. The head of the San Diego Association of Realtors says that while more foreclosures and short sells are possible in that area, it’s likely that the market isn’t going to get any worse.

Not all areas of the U.S. have so far to go in a recovery. In Pennsylvania, some parts of the state have been hit harder than others. There are residents who have given up on owning a home for now and are looking for apartments for rent in Pittsburgh and other cities.

The plane crash that occured on April 10, 2010 resulted in the death of President Lech Kaczynski, Poland’s first lady, and many other senior officials in the government. The plane was built in Russia and crashed near an airport in Smolensk, Russia. Bad weather has frequently been blamed for the crash. The plane carrying the Polish government was a Tupolev Tu-154M.

Making the incident even more tragic and bitter, the Polish government was on its way to a 70th anniversary memorial ceremony for victims of the Katyn massacre. This has factored in to the tension over the incident between Poland and Russia.

The Draft Report

Russian officials submitted a draft report of the plane crash report to Polish leadership for comment. The report was put together by the Interstate Aviation Committee and is 150 pages in length. Polish reaction has been generally unfavorable and Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the draft of the plane crash report as “unacceptable.”

The actual findings of the latest draft have not been made public at this time, but are thought to be very much at odds with Poland’s findings and information about the plane crash.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s Reactions

President Lech Kaczynski’s identical twin, Jaroslaw, currently heads Poland’s opposition party. For a period of time, the twein brothers served as both Polands prime minister and Poland’s president at the same time. Jaroslaw Kaczynski has accused both Moscow and Prime Minister Donald Tusk of causing the plane crash and engaging in a cover-up to hide this information from the public.

Gauging the Russian Reaction

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited Warsaw, Poland recently and addressed the report issues. He has repeatedly said that he will cooperate with Poland in finding out the cause of the plane crash. Communication and teamwork has thought to been progressing during earlier stages of investigation, but significant tension remains on both sides.

Northern Europe may stand a very good chance of a white Christmas, but this is of little consolation for holiday travelers. Large snow storms have made travel dicey and interupted many families’ holiday plans this year.

The last weekend before Christmas is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year and with Christmas falling on a Saturday this year, even more travelers have planned to leave on their holiday trips this weekend. Many countries in Europe are issuing warnings to travelers and encouraging people to stay at home this year for safety reasons.

Germany

The Frankfort Airport in Germany is continental Europe’s busiest airport. At the Frankfort Airport, 400 out of 1400 flights have been canceled. In Berlin, over 100 additional flights have been canceled due to weather conditions.

The Netherlands

Icy roads have made travel difficult for many in the Netherlands. The Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands have also canceled flights. Motorists are warned of ice and urged to stay in place.

Switzerland
Zurich Airport has canceled over 40 flights and expects further issues before the snow, and the holiday season, is over.

Poland
A brutal winter continues in Poland where road travel has become next to impossible. Dangerously frosty temperatures have already caused close to 100 deaths this winter and people are urged to take precaution. Many trains between cities in Poland have been canceled or trains unable to run due to loss of electricity. These developments have left some railway passengers waiting on the platform in some areas.

The United Kingdom
Fresh snow and ice have left roadways treacherous. In Scotland, citizens are urged to avoid any non-essential travel. In Britain, rail travel has been interrupted in many areas due to the snow.

For students in the United States looking to get their Masters in Business Administration (MBA), international programs have always been an appealing option. While US business schools are consistently on the list of the top schools in the world, so are schools in locations including the United Kingdom, Spain, and France. While China’s business schools may not be as appealing to many international students as London Business School–the reigning choice as the top MBA program in the world, they are quickly catching up to some of the best business schools in the world.

The Contenders
Shanghai Jiaotong, Peking University, Tsinghua, and Fudan University are along the top contenders in China’s pool of business school options. Hong Kong UST Business School in China made the Financial Times’ list of the top global MBA programs in the world, tying with the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business for ninth place.

The Appeal
Many students enjoy the idea of spending time abroad and expanding their horizons. An international MBA also helps students to stand out in a sea of new MBAs entering the job market each year. The option of spending a set number of years in a new country may also be an appeal for young MBA hopefuls. Many of China’s programs are affordable to international students as well.

The Knowledge of China
Few would argue that China is not poised to play an important role in the future of business. Earning an MBA in China provides students with a chance to increase their knowledge of Chinese business through case studies, classes, and learning experiences. It also gives students a chance to hone their existing language skills or learning the language while being immersed in Chinese culture and language. These are all things that stand to help students as they move into their careers in business.

Time Magazine has named Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg as 2010′s Person of the Year. Spurred by the fast growth of Facebook and the 2010 movie The Social Network that detailed, for better or for worse, the origins of Facebook and Zuckerberg’s climb to the top.

Zuckerberg’s Story
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, is just 26 years old. This makes him the second younger Time Person of the Year in history, second only to Charles Lindbergh, 1927′s Time Person of the Year. Has Facebook truly impacted the world this much? When you look at the statistics, the answer appears to be a resounding “yes”.

The Impact
What began as a service for college students, first at Harvard, and then around the US, has grown in just a few short years into a worldwide phenomenon. Over half of the population of the United States uses Facebook and 70% of Facebook users now reside outside of the United States. In fact, it is estimated that one-tenth of the world’s population uses Facebook, a remarkable figure when you consider the drastic differences of how the world’s population lives.

The Need to Share
What has driven the success? Zuckerberg is clearly gifted at marketing and business savvy, growing his company while keeping ownership tight. He also has to credit the human urge to share information and connect. Zuckerberg has built a network that allows individuals to do just that, to share information, photographs, videos, and life’s big events with a click of the computer mouse and a quick line of text.

The nod from Time Magazine as 2010′s Person of the Year stands as a testament to just how much Zuckerberg’s creation has changed the way we live. We cannot yet say if Facebook and other social networking sites are here to stay, but they have certainly changed our world.

With the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton scheduled for April 2011, the world has caught royal wedding fever. Why do the happenings of the British royals intrigue us around the world? Why do US women rush to buy the blue dress from an engagement announcement and why are companies and publications around the world trying to maximize on the obsession?

The Glitz
Few events are as elaborate as a British royal wedding and for many around the world, it’s hard to pass up a chance to watch something sure to be so ostentatious. Especially in a year when financial situations around the world are less than glamorous, a royal wedding is a chance to let go of those financial woes and watch the lead-up to something regal and rich. For many in Britain and around the globe, it’s a healthy dose of escapism.

The Story
It’s easy to get swept away in any story of the royal family. Since childhood, people in most countries of the world have heard stories of princes and princesses, royal marriages and royal affairs. Although the British royal family doesn’t command political power, it’s easy to see why they have stayed an important part of Britain’s culture and continue to entrance people around the globe. The personalities and stories are too good to resist.

The Legacy
Perhaps heightening the interest is the fact that the world watched as Lady Diana married Prince Charles, and then watched as the marriage fell apart, and watched as she met her tragic death. It was hard for anyone to not be cheering her sons on as they grew up and stay glued to media coverage through their many ups and downs of the teenager and early adulthood years. In the marriage to Kate Middleton, it seems obvious that people are watching to regain some of the grandeur of Prince William’s parents’ story, only this time, we can hope, with a happy end.

Each year, the St. Petersburg Times selects the PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year from the many lies, exaggerations, and misrepresentations that have appeared in the news over the past year. Many of these lies have become so ingrained in the world’s view and so common in the press, that it’s hard to determine what is the truth and what is the lie.

For 2010, PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year is “government takeover of healthcare.” The phrase used by many in the Republican party to describe President Barack Obama’s healthcare plan was first used in spring of 2009.

Where Did it Come From?

Its origins are attributed to political consultant Frank Luntz who has often been instrumental in assigning names and phrases that are sure to help swing opinion and impact the public discourse on an issue. Lutz felt that “government takeover” would be just scary enough to get people’s attention and make them feel as though their healthcare has been taken away from them in some sort of hostile act.

What Has it Done?

While much of President Obama’s healthcare plan made it through, the process was long and the dialogue harsh. The phrase “government takeover of healthcare” certainly impacted the debate, causing Tea Partiers and many in the Republican Party to protest and go to extreme measures to stop the plan. To this day it continues to help chip away at the legislation and add to fear about the changes to healthcare.

The phrase was selected as lie of the year because of its staying power and its outright incorrect implications. A government takeover would imply a system where the government is in control of hospitals and doctors. While this is the case in many countries with national healthcare programs, this was never the case in the US and was never part of the discussion.

Recently, news spread of a HIV patient in Germany who had been cured of the disease. While the medical community and the public were hoping that someone had found a cure, there was a general sense that it was too good to be true.

In actuality, it was. The patient had received a bone marrow transplant in 2007 as a treatment for leukemia. Dr. Gero Hutter at Berlin’s Charite-Medical University in Berlin followed his progress and reported on developments.

Why It’s Not the Cure

In the case of the German HIV patient, it turned out that the bone marrow donor had a genetic mutation that prevents HIV from getting to the body’s cells. It is estimated that 1 in 100 people in Central Europe have this rare mutation, but it is very difficult to isolate these people within a pool of bone marrow donors.

While yes, this transfusion seems to have cured the patient, at this point, there is not a way to make the treatment available or practical for the average HIV patient in the world today. Bone marrow matches are difficult to find and the procedure comes with many risks. It is also an extremely expensive process.

There’s Still Hope

In recent years, anti-retroviral therapies have become a much more practical way to control HIV. While they are expensive and often call for large doses of daily medications, people do find that they can control their condition and live a relatively normal life with HIV.

While the reported HIV cure turned out to not be a reality, it does offer hope to many who are waiting for the day when a cure exists. There’s always the chance that this discovery leads to something else on the horizon. With HIV becoming more manageable, the risks and costs of the potential cure just don’t make it worthwhile at this point in time.

A cholera epidemic in Haiti has killed over 2,400 people so far. Experts estimate that it could affect 600,000 people if something is not done to curb the spread of cholera soon. This is the first occurrence of cholera in Haiti since records dating back to the middle of the twentieth century. The United Nations is organizing a panel to begin an investigation of the cause of the outbreak and find ways to bring it under control.

The UN hopes to be able to investigate and identify where the outbreak began. Several theories exist in Haiti at the moment. Many Haitians believe that the outbreak began with a group of UN peacekeeping forces from Nepal. This is due to the fact that they were stationed in close proximately to the area where hundreds of cholera cases have been reported. UN officials deny this saying that sanitation procedures prevent any sort of outbreak stemming from this group.

Cholera is rampant in Nepal, a fact that is surely fueling speculation into the origins of cholera in Haiti. The Center for Disease Control has found that the strains of cholera there match strains found in southeast Asia, a finding that could help to solidify the case for Nepalese origins.

Other theories include that the disease emerged from the precise environmental factors that could breed disease. The recent earthquake has contributed to poor sanitation in many areas that could lead to this sort of outbreak. Others speculate that cholera had laid dormant for some time in Haiti’s soil only to become active again in recent months. Further investigation will be needed to determine if either of these theories is possible.

One of the biggest concerns is controlling the spread, cholera outbreak has already begun to affect neighboring countries. Cases being found in the Dominican Republic and a few isolated cases have occurred recently in the United States.

Many international travelers come to the Netherlands every year. Some tourists come for the Netherlands’ beauty, the rich history, and to check out the local culture. Other tourists come for one reason only: the legal drugs and the available of marijuana. Maastricht is located in the southern part of the Netherlands and a common destination for tourists, it is also home to a large student population.

Maastricht’s mayor recently instituted a ban on tourists in coffee shops that provide easy access to marijuana.

A Big Draw
Over two and a half million tourists visit Maastricht’s 14 coffee shops each year. These coffee shops do sell coffee, tea, light food, and other products common to just about every coffee shops in the world. They have also gained a reputation as a common place to smoke marijuana and for eager tourists to come to buy it.

EU Considerations
The owners of some of these coffee shops, and the many who benefit from this trade, have argued that a ban on tourists in coffee shops would go against European Union law. Since many of these tourists in the Netherlands are also citizens of other European Union nations, the bans would violate their rights to enter the coffee shops and make purchases other than marijuana. EU law requires equal treatment of all citizens of EU countries.

The Argument
Despite opposition citing these EU arguments, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg has ruled in favor of the ban on tourists in Maastricht coffee shops. They believe that it will help to combat the rampant drug tourism in the Netherlands and help to curb some of the problems caused by this global reputation. Maastricht’s mayor also hopes that this may ease problems caused by these overflowing coffee shops and prevent problems caused by tourist’s disorderly conduct.

Some like to invest in the area where they live while majority of them prefer to invest in cities where they do not live themselves. One reason not to choose a place where you already live is people do not want to own two properties on one location. Once you own a property at one location, you might find a better location after some time. Choosing a location while investing is the most important step; consult internet, libraries or property experts before finalizing a deal.

Location is not the final step on this way. You must think finally for what purpose you are going to utilize this property. If you are planning to rent out, you must get a property which renters of that area admire. You must consult local property experts of that specific area.

Once you have bought a property outside your city, its maintenance is a big deal. You may not have enough time to visit that place every month. You will not have enough time to run after tenants to pay you rent in time. This seems quite a stress but this is where property management companies come in. Sacramento property management Company is a reliable company that can make your business life stress free.

A good management company will take the burden off your shoulders. They will arrange good trustworthy renters for your property and will be responsible to collect rents in time.

A property management company will keep on checking the market value of your property in case you want to sale it. Riverside property management companies are the most famous when you want to invest in real estate in cities outside of where you live. These companies are the most reputable and can earn you lot more profit without demanding much of your help.

Stunted growth is a critical problem in the country of Guatemala. With half of the population at risk for stunted growth, it has the highest rate of malnutrition in the Western hemisphere. In some remote villages, the numbers are even more shocking with up to 80% of the population lacking proper nutrition.

Early Nutrition is Key

The time from birth until the age of two is the most important time for nutrition and development. Children in poor families who lack proper nutrition during this time can expect to not reach their full adult height, have a weakened immune system, and impaired brain development. For a country struggling with poverty, these things add up to a cycle of poverty and health struggles.

The Cycle

Without proper nutrition, it is unlikely that children in poor Guatemalan families will be able to break out of their impoverished life. Without nutrition and brain development, it is unlikely that many of these stunted children will be able to leave their poor communities or develop ways to bring their families out of poverty.

What is Missing

Animal proteins and dairy are all but absent from these children’s diets. Supplements and fortified foods may be a way to help some of these children develop at a normal rate. A fortified corn mixture is one way that medical workers have found to help bring some inexpensive nutrition to the children of Guatemala.

If children are educated about nutrition in school, they have already passed the critical window in time. Educating mothers and fathers about nutritional gaps and options that are available to help them to feed their children from birth is one of the ways that experts anticipate creating change in the country. With improved nutrition, it is possible that the next generation may be able to turn around the poor country and find ways to create lasting change.

As the cholera epidemic continues in Haiti, international organizations are looking into possible ways to handle the outbreak. Cholera first became a problem in Haiti this past fall and experts are still unsure of where the epidemic originated. The impoverished country is still recovering from the devastating earthquake and many citizens remain displaced. Poor sanitation options have also left the region vulnerable to disease.

The Cholera Vaccine
While a vaccine exists for cholera, only 50,000 approved vaccine doses exist in the world today. The World Health Organization is currently looking into naming a second manufacturing company to produce cholera vaccinations. This would make it possible to produce more doses each year, hopefully enough to keep up with needs and keep an adequate stockpile on hand for situations like the one in Haiti.

Experts at the Pan American Health Organization have recommended using Haiti, where 2,405 have died of the disease since October, as a way to test a program to vaccinate citizens. A trial could begin shortly and help to control the outbreak while more vaccinations are being made.

Could it Help?
It is believed that 110,000 Haitians have contracted cholera since the beginning of the epidemic in October 2010. If the disease continues to spread, it could have an even more devastating effect on the country and its population. A pilot program for the vaccination could be implemented in a way that would help to slow the spread of cholera while medical professionals and researchers can begin to understand the cause of the outbreak and what can be done to stop it.

A test program for the cholera vaccine would also be an important pilot program to help international organizations learn the best ways to handle future epidemics. This could be a way for organizations to help Haiti, while at the same time furthering research to prevent other epidemics in the future.

Recent studies at the Saban Research Institute of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles have found a potential link between children diagnosed with autism and mothers who live close to busy freeways. This could be an important step in identifying some of the causes of autism and the cause in the great increase in diagnoses over the past several years. While autism can be helped with early therapies and specialized education, there is no known cure for autism at this time.

Potential Environmental Factors
Scientists and medical workers have long wondered if there could be links between environmental factors, like air pollution, and autism. Other potential causes, such as vaccinations, genetic mutations, and early interactions have not been proven and scientists have not yet determined the cause. It is estimated that 1 in 110 children have autism and rates have increased in recent years, although there is great debate over whether the rates of autism have increased or just the rate of detection.

The Study’s Data
The study looked at the place that mothers lived when they were pregnant, the time of birth, and the place they lived when the child was very young. Mothers and children living within 1,000 feet away from a freeway at the time of their birth had twice the average rate of autism of children who lived further away from these roads. The study controlled for differences in parents’ age, race, smoking history, education, and other potential factors.

Which Roads?
The study found a link only between autism and major freeways in the Los Angeles area. Freeways see over 300,000 vehicles each day and are much more busy than even the busiest of local roads. The study did not find a link between autism and proximity to major roads. This is thought to be due to chemicals that are used on these roads.

Studies in Great Britain have revealed that although younger people are more likely to contract swine flu, they are less likely to get vaccinated against the flu. In typical years, the importance of vaccination is emphasized primarily for older people and people with preexisting medical conditions and weakened immune systems. This year, many are pushing for everyone, especially younger people, to get the vaccine. The current flu vaccine includes a vaccine for the swine flu.

The Risks by Age Group
While in a typical year, people over sixty-five years old are more likely to get influenza and die of complications from the flu, this same age group appears to be less likely to contract H1N1, the swine flu. Many medical workers and scientists believe that this is due to the fact that older people have lived through more strains of the flu. They may have a tolerance to the swine flu because they lived through similar strains. Younger adults and children do not have this advantage.

Defining At Risk Groups
In Great Britain, it is estimated that 67% of people over the age of 65 and only 41% of people under the age of 65, but in at-risk groups, have been vaccinated. At-risk groups include people with weak immune systems and several different medical conditions, including heart problems, asthma, or diabetes. Cancer patients are also considered an at-risk group for contracting the flu.

Why Do Young People Avoid the Vaccine?
Many blame the spread of rumors about the flu vaccine, particularly the swine flu vaccine, for keeping young people from being vaccinated. With the spread of information over the internet, young people are reading false information about vaccines and becoming afraid of any that they deem unnecessary. Numbers from the Health Protection Agency show that seventeen people in Britain have died of the flu this season and fourteen of these were from swine flu. All deaths were people under the age of sixty-five.

In most states in the United States where medical marijuana is legal, the state or a state agency regulates the dispensaries. This is to be certain that the strength of the drug is consistent and the quality is safe for people taking it for medical purposes. In Arizona, where medical marijuana was just recently legalized and set to become available in 2011, there are no plans to regulate it.

The Argument
Officials in Arizona argue that it is critical to know the drug’s country of origin and whether or not pesticides were used in the process. They do not place the same importance on the strength of each plant. Measuring the amount of THC is a tedious and costly process that they do not deem necessary or practical to the process. There is a lot of variation even in plants that were grown in identical environments. Arizona’s Department of Health is just not deciding on some basic regulations for when the drug becomes available to patients with prescriptions in March 2011.

The Plan
Proposition 203 set the plan into motion for Arizona to legalize medical marijuana. Arizona has laid out some guidelines. Approved dispensaries of medical marijuana will need to have a medical director on their staff to handle any issues and handle patients’ questions. Medical doctors must see a patient regularly in order to prescribe marijuana as part of treatment. Buyers must carry identification cards. Growers will need to pass security measures set by the state and meet certain guidelines about how the plant is grown.

Rules About Usage
Patients must smoke in their homes or in their yards, there will be laws barring them from smoking medical marijuana in public places. Officials do say that patients would be able to find other methods, such as ingesting the drug, to take a dose when they are not at home.

Headlines, gossip, and conspiracy theories have run wild since news broke that President and Mrs. Obama were not invited to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, planned for April 2011.

The Reasoning
Royal sources have stated that Prince William and Kate have said that their wedding is not an official state event. They plan to invite those close to them and share their wedding day with people close to them, not necessarily world leaders. While this seams like a fair excuse for the lack of an invitation, it has been noted that French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni received an invitation to the royal wedding. If they were planning a smaller affair, perhaps this could have been a valid reason afterall.

The Theories
Others have speculated that there is not a good relationship between the Obamas and the British leaders. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown did not receive an oval office visit upon one of his trips the United States.

There is also speculation that this cool relationship owes its roots to Obama’s own family history. His father, a Kenyan citizen, was a subject of Britain due to Britain’s colonization of the country. This would have been the case even at the time that Barack Obama was born. While this feels like a stretch for some, others believe it is the root of these tensions. WikiLeaks cables have also revealed that Obama and top United States officials don’t view British Prime Minister David Cameron in a very positive light.

The History
United States presidents have been invited to royal weddings in the recent past. President and Mrs. Reagan attended the marriage of William’s father, Prince Charles grand royal wedding in 1981 and the marriage of Prince Andrew in 1986. It remains to be seen whether this new royal wedding will compare to these or whether the couple is truly looking for less of a worldwide extravagant celebration.

The Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, a location known for catering to the rich and the extravagant lifestyles of its guests from around the world, has unveiled an elaborate Christmas tree for the 2010 holiday season. The Christmas tree’s ornaments are created from expensive and rare jewels that add up to a value of eleven million US dollars.

The Influx of Criticism
The ornate Christmas tree has been criticized for being too over the top and an unnecessary display of the country and the hotel’s excessive wealth. The forty foot fake Christmas tree is donned with jewels that include emeralds, sapphires, pearls, and diamonds.

It is worth noting that most of the locals in Abu Dhabi are Muslim, but the hotel sees many guests from all over the world. Criticized for having taken the holiday too far and spent far too much money on the Christmas display, the hotel has apologized for creating any ill feelings, but stressed that they were simply trying to do the holiday in the opulent fashion for which the Emirates Palace Hotel is known. For many, the tree crossed the line between recognizing the holiday season and taking it to the point of ridiculous excess and vulgar displays of riches.

The Hotel’s Response
The Emirates Palace Hotel has argued that the ornate Christmas tree is a way of welcoming guests and celebrating the holiday that many of their guests enjoy. Guests are paying huge sums of money for exactly this display of grandeur. The hotel has also rebutted criticisms by stating that the tree is meant to be an ornate display and the jewels are on loan from a local gallery and the hotel has incurred no costs from displaying the tree. All of the decor will be returning to the gallery after the holidays are over.

Time Magazine recently selected Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as their 2010 Person of the Year. Reactions, as they usually are following such announcements, have been a mixed bag. Many of the criticisms break down into three distinct groups: those who believe the pick was old news, those who favored Wikileaks’ Jullian Assange, and those who were outraged by poll results that did not choose Zuckerberg at all.

A Repeat
Some have recalled that in 2006, Time Magazine named “You” the person of the year. This was, in essence, a celebration of the way social networking websites have changed what constitutes news and how we view ourselves and our circles of friends and family. For many, Zuckerberg was at the helm of this revolution and has already been honored as a Person of the Year for his work in changing the way people communicate and share information.

Thinking About Wikileaks
For other critics of the choice, the choice for 2010 Person of the Year was obvious: Julian Assange. While Facebook has been important in recent years, Wikileaks has captured the world’s attention like nothing else this year. Many historians and politicians believe that this will be the real news story that is remembered when society looks back at 2010. Assange was the one who took open communication a step further by revealing government information to the masses and changing how we view news this year.

The Person of the Year Poll
Time Magazine also put forth a public poll asking for readers to vote for the Person of the Year. Mark Zuckerberg received 18,000 votes, while Assange received 382,026. Many have criticized the magazine for having a poll and then ignoring the results in favor of their own pick. Was the pick already final before the poll was released? Why have a poll if you plan to ignore its results? For many, it is the poll results that tell the real story of 2010.

It’s well known that the Earth’s arctic ice is in trouble. Scientists predict that the sea ice will disapear during the warm months by the end of the twenty-first century, leaving many species in the arctic at risk of extinction. Some scientists, however, point to another outcome, something that to the general population sounds different all together.

Species Hybridization
Twenty species in the arctic have been labeled at risk for hybridization. This means that two different species could breed to create a unique offspring. While there are some basic guidelines for how this happens, it is not as rare as many would think. The endangered North Pacific whale, for example, could breed with a larger population of whales. This would help them to survive, but also cause the original species to go extinct.

It’s Already Here
in 2006, a hybrid of a grizzly bear and a polar bear was found in the wild. The bear was conspicuous because of its brown and white patches that tipped off hunters that something was not quite right. This marked one of the first confirmed arctic hybrids, but if scientists are right, it will not be the last.

Why Is It Happening?
When species are at risk, they develop traits to survive in a changing environment. Current species in the arctic have evolved to be able to live in their current conditions. Species hybridizations allow the species to evolve to meet their changing environment more quickly, possibly as a way to fend off extinction. While scientists point out that this can be a good thing in the first few generations, eventually, it often leads to diluted survival traits or other genetic issues that could cause the species to die out anyway. By breeding with other species, the original animals become less able to survive in the wild.

The results of the 2010 United States Census could spell trouble for Obama’s 2012 presidential reelection campaign.

Shifting Numbers
The 435 districts that elect members to the House of Representatives are reapportioned based on census results and shifts in the population. This allows them to continue to represent approximately equal numbers of citizens. Population shifts also signal changes in the electoral college which elects the new president of the United States every four years. Shifts in the population can be drastic game changers.

Wins and Losses
The largest population gains in 2010 came in Texas, a Republican stronghold. Texas will pick up an estimated four new seats in the House. The states who lost the largest number of people and will lose seats were New York and Ohio. These states both went to Obama in 2008. Overall, states in the north and Midwest are losing populations and therefore, losing political influence. The largest population gains are coming in the south, states that are traditionally republican strongholds and stand to pick up political influence over the next several years. It remains to be seem whether or not population shifts will also cause some shifts in the patterns of the electoral college. Huge shifts would be necessary to make it so that states in the south could go Democratic in the presidential election.

State Governors
2010 midterm elections have already caused some potential problems for Obama’s reelection bid. Republican governors will be in place in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Nevada, New Mexico, Virginia, and Wisconsin. This means people who can help to bring out the vote and offer their backing for a Republican candidate in 2012. Having a state governor’s support can be a big advantage to a presidential candidate. This is especially true when presidential races are close, and in recent years, races have always been close.

With 2010 midterm elections behind the United States, all eyes are on the Republican Party and who will be the 2012 presidential candidate to take on President Barack Obama in his bid for reelection. One of the most talked about options is former Vice Presidential candidate and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Gauging the Media
All eyes have been on Palin and her family this year. Following Bristol Palin’s run on Dancing with the Stars, the Palin family has appeared in a series of reality programming on The Learning Channel. Focused on living in Alaska, outdoor adventures, and of course, a platform for Palin’s political opinions, the series has enjoyed good ratings for the first several episodes. Palin continues to write and to make the media circuit discussing politics. Whether she plans on a career in commentary or a run for the White House, she’s certainly getting more than her share of attention.

Looking at the Polls
Although she is still the darling of the far right, one poll revealed that 59% of the American public claims that they would never vote for Palin for President. Still, it’s difficult to imagine that staunch Republican voters would stay home if it came down to a vote for Palin or a win for Obama. These poll numbers and public distaste have drawn comparisons between Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton, whose political aspirations often received similar poll ratings and negative press. Many commentators have considered that the American public tends to be more polarized when it comes to female candidates.

Does She Even Want to Run?
Looking at her recent career choices and statements, it is highly likely that Palin does not plan to make a run for the presidency. Frankly, she seems content in her current lifestyle and it is likely that other Republican candidates will surface who Palin can support without running herself. For 59% of America, that’s just fine.
